Card values
Aces count one; 2–9 count face value; tens and face cards count zero. Only the last digit of the sum counts. A 7 plus 8 is therefore a total of 5.
Bet types
Banker and Player are the two standard sides. A Tie bet typically pays more but has a substantially larger house edge. Rules, particularly Banker commission or no-commission variations, matter.
House advantage
With standard eight-deck commission baccarat, typical house edges are about 1.06% on Banker, 1.24% on Player, and 14.36% on a Tie paying 8:1. Figures vary with rules.
Past Banker/Player patterns do not predict the next shuffled result.
