Razz is a variant of stud poker that is played with a standard 52-card deck. The game is typically played with anywhere from two to eight players, and the objective is to make the lowest hand possible, using a combination of your seven cards.
Razz is played in a series of rounds, and at the start of each round, each player is dealt three cards: two face-down “hole” cards and one face-up “door” card. The player with the highest door card is required to make a forced bet, known as the “bring-in,” and play begins with the player to the left of the bring-in.
As play continues around the table, each player has the option to call, raise, or fold. Once all the betting is completed, a fourth card, known as “fourth street,” is dealt face up to each player. Another round of betting ensues, and this process is repeated until each player has a total of seven cards (three face down and four face up).
The final round of betting takes place after the seventh card is dealt, and then the remaining players reveal their hands. The player with the lowest hand wins the pot. If two or more players have the same hand, the pot is split evenly among them.
In Razz, a hand consists of five cards, and the lowest hand wins. The ranks of the cards are ranked in their normal order (ace being the highest and two being the lowest), but the suits of the cards are not ranked. Straights and flushes do not count against a player in Razz.
